Luke Phillip...

This is the love of my life, the best father in the world and the most Rock-N-Roll friend anyone could ever have! My husband is really the coolest person I know. Besides his way of making everyone around him feel special and loved, he is a talented writer and a hard worker at everything he does. I feel completely blessed to have found him and trapped him with a really powerful love spell (just joking!). He has opened my eyes to the bright side of life. His positive attitude is contagious and his love for the simple pleasures in the world has enriched my life in so many ways. I could never fully express how much I cherish his love, friendship, laughter and patience. You are my world Luke, I love you so much!

A Poem for Me by my Son Izaak

This was left on my pillow by Izaak this evening and made my heart smile big! He is such a sweet son, and knows how I love Dragonflies! Thanks Izaak, I love you!

Dragonflies
by Izaak

dragonflies
fly through the skies
in the summers warm, soft glow
in the grassy flowery meadow
humming, flying
some are lying
on the tranquil riverbank
for their beauty
I do thank
on the river,
in the meadow
in misummers warm, soft glow

Kaleb David

Kaleb, Kaleb, Kaleb. That smile is so pure and heartflet, when you can get it. I have never met such a serious, deep thinking five year old in my life! You can't see it in this picture but those blue eyes can pierce your soul. He feels so deeply, and the things he says will make you laugh yourself silly! " Do we turn the car off so it can rest?", "Do chickens miss their eggs when people take them away?", these are just a few, as you can imagine. The way he sits as close as possible to you on the couch and will lay his hand ever so gently on your leg if he is feeling extra close to you, he loves to be told that he is "cute" and loves a good tickle session. So far he is the only one of my three that can give a good tickle too! I could gush over him all the live-long day, the compassion he has for little children who cry when their Mom leaves them at the day care, or the serious look he gets in his face when he thinks you are not taking him seriously enough, I have and will continue to enjoy every stage of Kaleb.

Aliza and the Moon

"I gonna get da moon Momma!", is what she says as she jumps up and down in the twilight of dusk. Reaching her little arms as far up as they will reach and then runs to me, her special little run, the one where her upper body doesn't move a muscle and her legs go as fast as a sprinter. Her hands are cupped and she is careful not to spill the moon light she has captured. When she reaches me she holds out her hands and demands " Throw da moon back home!", and I oblige her request enthusiasticly, throwing the magical moonlight of her imagination back to the heavens. My heart smiles as I look back to see her jumping up and down again, the repetive act showing me how much she enjoys this game. Her, not knowing how much I am enjoying her youth, immagination and purity of heart. I just smile at her and tell her three words she hears every day but will never understand untill she has a child of her own, "I love you."

Bop and Ali

This is my Father, (in law, but that is only a techincality) and Aliza Jane. I love this picture because it shows how giddy she gets when around him. He has a heart of gold and she senses that fully. They hold up in her room, reading books and nurturing baby dolls, serious quality time for anyone whol knows of Aliza's love of these things! She is so blessed to have such great men in her life, Bop, Daddy, and her Grampy Jackson. If she keeps this up she should never settle for any ordinary man, only the best will do! Childhood is a time when only the best seeds should be planted.

The Petsmart Incident

Yesterday we went to Petsmart and Aliza was bit by a customers' dog, a Pit Bull none-the-less. She was taken by paramedics to the hospital and looked at by a plastic surgeon. She has a chunk of her lip torn off, and will need reconstructive surgery in the future. She is alright and came home in good spirits. She isn't deformed or mutilated, thank goodness, but it was a very scary situation. She isn't in any pain and is back to business as usual being two and running around with her "Ubbs". She has a follow up appointment with the surgeon tomorrow and we'll know more then. Just remember to be extra protective while around animals, we let our guard down and now Ali is paying the price.

I miss the Flowers

I feel the same way each and every year. After Christmas and New Years are over, I have absolutely no need for snow or cold what-so-ever. I crave the smell of dirt and the trips to the local garden mart to search out the perfect specimens to add to my gardens. I miss worms, puddles, getting rained on in mid weed pulling session.

Maybe this time of the year will be easier when we live in the North. While I will still be ready to plant the first day of the new year, I will also be distracted by such winter activities as ice skating, hopefully hockey, and I'm dying to get a snowmobile!

We will be selling our home in Maryland and going to NH or Mass. in June or July. So I won't be able to fully tend my spring plantings here. On the same token I will not be able to plant appropriately at the new residence either! A limbo year. Hopefully the new owner will appreciate my efforts at this house.

I've put a lot of work into these gardens and all three of my children have helped substantially. They have also reaped the rewards! They enjoy chewing mouthfulls of peppermint that they planted and watched grow themselves and are very proud that they know of something you can eat in the garden, there friends are always equally impressed. They have also learned the best time to pick the flowers and which ones Mom likes best in a juice glass on the window sill! They see a direct result of hard work coming to fruition, and the joy that brings me. I saw that joy in my mother, and she saw it in hers too.

I wonder if Aliza will like to play in the dirt...
