A Sunny Sunday at the Patapsco River...

Hmmm, not sure about how this is layed out but I guess it is the content that matters, huh? Well, today was gorgeous in Maryland! After a chill morning and some lawn work and planting, the boys wanted to go fishing, and as always Matilda was all about it! So, off we went, leaving Daddy to his homework and Aliza to a nap. The wind was making the prettiest ripples in the water and we had a great time trying to out smart our aquatic frineds. But in the end there was only one fish in the whole river to be caught, and I got her! Just a little golden perch, but the fun is always the same! Matilda swam her heart out, and chased the fish when I threw it back into the water...it was really funny!

Accepting Defeat...

I don't want to get into it too much, as it breaks my heart to say, but we are withdrawing our home from the sale market and staying put in Maryland indefinitely. We will be working to make the best of it, and trying hard to keep positive. As always, we love it when our families visit, so keep on coming!

Some Natural Love...

Look at these Kids! I am happy to say that all three of my children share my enjoyment for the outdoors...so far! This pic was taken at the Patapsco River bank in Linthicum, MD. We are lucky enough to be within walking distance of a rock-n-roll fishing spot. Nothing was biting this weekend but we had a great time trying! Kaleb had a great time climbing a cool tree and Izaak was rockin' his new fishing pole (thanks Eema!!!). For this pic. Izaak was experimenting with the "serious" look...he's happy I swear, just trying on some alter-egos!
We spent a long time having fun and Izaak and I taught Aliza where Fairies live and how to sniff for Trolls. She was amazed by these new skills and learned to scout proficiently! FUN! After a rousing game of Hide and Seek, in which Matilda always blew up my spot - we were ready for home! I love relaxing with my kids, when there's nothing to do other than focus on each other.
On the 22nd of this month was Earth Day. It was great to see the schools discuss it with the students and Kaleb's teacher was even impressed he understood recycling so well (Props to Mom!). Aliza brought home an arts-n-crafts flower and planted some real ones. I'm just glad my message to appreciate nature and preserve it for future generations is being enforced outside of the home!

What if it's not worth it...

As most of you know, we are trying to sell our home in Maryland to get closer to family. We know it is a huge step, and a risky one at that, to pack up and leave a good paying steady job to pursue what we feel is a more valuable life. We have been putting our hearts and souls into making this transition work, but we've been met with staunch resistance from fate. It makes me wonder if the grass would not be any greener in NY or NH or Mass. at that. Maybe we are meant to be away and raise our children without the family input and the benefits that come with that. Maybe we started on a path of separation and it just isn't going to reverse. It's hard being the decision makers of a family. I've always thought making a move was a better bet than staying stagnant in regards to tweeking your life to make it as good as you can get it. I may be changing my thoughts on that. For the benefit of our mental health and financial stability it may be necessary for us to learn to live away, and just cherish the times we do get to encounter family. We'll see how it all pans out. We are in the process of setting soem dates for fate to meet us, if it doesn't we're re-evaluating the situation and heading forth in an entirely new direction. Wish us luck!

Spring is Springing!

Spring is showing itself quick! The boys, Jamie and I went fishing for the first time this season and Izaak caught the first fish of the season, a small mouth bass! It was great to see him reeling that dad boy in! It was a good time. Matilda was having a blast chasing a 50lb. beaver, and some geese, she swam her dog but off that's for sure! I'm currently trying to find a good weekend to start off our camping season and in the market for a cheap used Kayak. Going to make this summer one to remember for these kids!

Sooo...It's been while

I didn't think anyone actually read this thing but recently I got a few complaints about not keeping it current. So here's an update...House is STILL for sale and we are STILL looking for work in Mass., NH, or NY. If it doesn't come we are moving to VA to keep the current employment yet get the kids into better schools. Luke is in college full time online for an IT degree and that should be the guaranteed ticket out of this area, until then were trying to make the best of it all.
Izaak is doing great in 6th grade and is having his talent honored by receiving a speaking part in this years drama club play. Usualy the speaking parts are reserved for the 8th graders but Izaak is such an undeniable asset to the club he got one. I'm very proud of him!
Kaleb is growing fast and soon to be 7! He is currently playing t-ball and is the only child on the team who can hit the ball when pitched to them! His arm isn't too shabby either if I do say so myself! No if we could just master catching! He is also doing great in the first grade and is official a "reader", now we can't even spell in front of him if we want to keep something a secret! He is also Art Student of the Month at his Elementary School! Yeah Kaleb!
Aliza Jane is also doing well! She is growing tall and is such a little lady! She still is as sweet as ever and nurturing to everyone around her. She is having a great time at her pre-school still and loves to wear her dresses to school on warm days. She is a firecracker when she needs to be though, don't be fooled by the sweetness, she is quick to put her big brothers in their places!
I'm doing fine, trying to keep my sanity while life is rolling with it's own plan. Keeping my fingers crossed for a break.
